![]() ![]() Stadia can successfully stream large, visually demanding games to tiny devices, making them playable without frustration - at least, when the service is provided an ideal streaming environment. We tested out Stadia and found it to be the best in-home cloud-gaming experience to date, following years of failed experiments like OnLive, Gaikai and PlayStation Now (just because it's still active doesn't mean it's a success, folks). The company promises imperceptible latency and resolution reaching 4K, even when playing games like Destiny 2 and Mortal Kombat 11. Stadia is Google's video game streaming service, offering the ability to play a library of titles on your phone, tablet, laptop or Chromecast Ultra, without a dedicated console and without downloading. It's a solid, T-for-Teen introduction to both horror and adventure games - which is precisely what Google Stadia, its launch platform, needs. ![]() Gylt isn't a revelation in terms of mechanics or style, but that's part of its charm. Simple spatial puzzles and fetch quests pad out the gameplay as Sally investigates the gray, spooky world and confronts truths about her younger cousin. As is common in adventure games, items are littered around the world to help Sally on her quest - keys for locked doors, inhalers for health, and batteries for her flashlight, whose beam injures the big bad beasties. The main gameplay conceit involves ducking behind low walls and overturned desks to avoid the detection of the black, cone-headed creatures patrolling the town. Gylt takes things slow, introducing mechanics like walking, looking around, ducking and interacting with objects one at a time, with clear on-screen prompts and plenty of space for players to test out their new tools. Eyeballs peer from the tops of tentacles growing out of the goo. Eyeballs peer from the tops of tentacles growing out of the goo, and bipedal beasts with long claws and inverted faces stalk the walkways. Sally's hometown is abandoned and looks like an earthquake hit it, while its corners and doorways are infested with black sludge monsters. Sally searches for Emily, who's been missing for a month, through the desolate rooms of their school as monsters stalk her footsteps. ![]() Gylt is a third-person horror title that follows tween Sally into a twisted, Upside Down style world that has also consumed her young cousin, Emily. Stylistically, it's different than anything the studio has created so far it's narratively thin, though its world is rich and eerie, filled with creeping beasts and light emotional turmoil. Tequila Works' latest release, Gylt, fits this mold perfectly. ![]() Overall, the studio's strength lies in building moody worlds bursting with emotional intrigue, rather than completing a single, clear narrative arc. The studio's approach to storytelling works best in The Invisible Hours, a non-linear VR experience that sacrifices player input in order to resolve multiple narrative threads. They're slightly creepy, with a touch of ennui and too much story for a single game to contain. After that, Tequila Works released a murder mystery set inside a trippy mansion casino, a heartwarming platformer about a long-lost civilization, a narrative-driven VR title, a world-building app for iOS, and the official VR project for Sony Pictures' Groundhog Day.ĭespite the differences in mechanics, a common thread runs through many of Tequila Works' titles. It starts with Deadlight, a dark, side-scrolling action title set in a lonely zombie apocalypse. At least, that's how it seems after scrolling through a list of games the independent Spanish studio has released since 2012. The game isn't too difficult, but it does a great job at challenging you nonetheless. The developers at Tequila Works get bored easily. I wholly recommend a playthrough of this game and it is even fun to explore and look for collectables off the beaten path which gifts you with more of the game's true story. It is a game that is off-putting in the right way, something about the theme of bullying and how you have to deal with making it through the story does a great job in making you feel as if something is wrong at every turn. The story speaks to the horrors of bullying and how isolating it feels and uses plenty to look at. Sure it is somewhat an action game as it gives you tools for fighting the monsters that stalk you at every turn, but the game does a great job at making you feel helpless nonetheless and for every tool it gives you a new foe to face as well each one creepier than the last. Whereas Native Son is a linear narrative written in the vein of urban realism, Invisible Man is experimental and takes liberties with reality using literary techniques like stream-of-consciousness, Ellison shows us the psychological impact of racism on his protagonist, who, unlike Bigger Thomas, possesses intellectual depth. In Ellison's book, the nameless protagonist and narrator is metaphorically invisible-an African American man who struggles to construct an identity for himself in a world stigmatized by the blinders of racism. In Wells' book, the protagonist is actually invisible his body disappears and nobody can see him. Wells' science fiction novel The Invisible Man. Given that a lot of LoB software hasn’t been supported for donkey’s years and the developers have disappeared, that is unlikely to happen in a lot of cases. Also, instead of having to refactor their software a decade or so ago, most haven’t had to refactor the code for over 30 years. You will look at a gradual replacement over the next 10 years and you won’t start moving, until all the critical LoB software is available. You aren’t going to throw out 20 – 30,000 PCs and replace them with ARM, just because Microsoft says so. And, luckily for them, they already went through a code rationalisation with the move from PowerPC to Intel a decade and a half ago.On Windows, Microsoft just don’t have that much power, because business users won’t jump to a new platform, just because Microsoft tells them to. More like, "it turns out, when you tell people that their gravy train is being de-railed and they have to jump on the new bandwagon to continue earning, people jump on the bandwagon."Mac developers don’t really have a choice. Simply put, the lack of all in commitment to the platform by Microsoft - makes it less attractive and more companies will do a wait and see approach (chicken and egg). I would also guess, that even with the good selection of built in functionality, that macOS users still spend more money on software than on Windows. It also can make sense to unify the development of both iPad and macOS development (optimized for both UI front-ends) as that is where the market is moving (as seen by Apple working on now moving all platforms with new features in unison where it makes sense). If you want to continue to sell software for Macs, you are going to prioritize porting your applications to be native (which Apple has done an excellent job of making as easy as possible). On top of that with the unification of the development platform - add around 45 million units per year. That is a sufficient market to write applications for. ![]() The average number of units sold vary I think between 15 to 20 million (maybe more now) per year…. ![]() All apps that will want to continue to run will have to be ported over to Apple silicon. Rosetta will likely be removed in a few years. If you consider that soon, every single Mac that is going to be sold going forward (except for maybe one more Mac Pro refresh) is going to be M1. It is more about Mac units that will be running M1. ![]() ![]() ![]() With our online software, you can manage your data quickly and more effectively. Since capuchin monkeys can live up to 45 years, make sure to do your research prior to obtaining a baby capuchin monkey because they are a lifelong commitment. You can expect their daily diet to cost around $5.00 per day. You'll also have ongoing vet expenses and they require a diet that mainly consists of fresh vegetables and commercial primate biscuits. Besides the amount of time you'll need to spend with your baby capuchin, you'll need to buy lots of enrichment toys and a large indoor and preferably outdoor enclosure in the future. In the first year your capuchin will want to spend a lot of their time clinging to your body. While purchasing your baby capuchin is expensive, their care can't be underestimated. ![]() If your monkey is getting shipped, make sure the person shipping your monkey has the proper licenses to do so. We also recommend that future primate owners pick up their capuchin at the breeder/broker. Ask for proof of that license before submitting payment. Remember, in the USA you must have USDA license before you are permitted to sell a primate. A lot of first-time owners get scammed online. It is not that uncommon for breeders to request a deposit but make sure you have proof of that deposit. We do not advice first-time primate owners to ever get an older capuchin monkey since they often come with a lot of challenges. If you find capuchin monkeys for sale at a much lower price, these ads are most likely a scam or you are purchasing a rehome or ex-breeder monkey. Pick the roof that best suits your style and ability, whether a beginner or expert, make it your own. As you’ve seen, some roof styles may be better suited for a drier climate, but most will withstand a blizzard with a foot or two of snow. The complexity and the roofing materials affect the price.Ī shed roof design may be easier to build and a hip roof more expensive, but you can build them. The roof style affects the slope and framing complexity. There are many different styles of the shed roof. The design requires more expertise to the layout not an easy roof to build for a beginner. Is not great for high snowfall or rainy areas. It has a greater risk of leakage and requires regular maintenance.A more complex design so more expensive to build. It is easy to vent out the gables or from the soffits to the ridge.īest Roofing Material: shingle or ribbed steel sheet It is a fairly simple roof to build but slightly more expensive and complex than a shed roof design. It can be built with rafters that run from the walls and meet at a raised center ridge to form a peak or gable above two opposite walls or with prebuilt trusses. A single slope will be less expensive than a hip or rounded roof.ġ5 Most Popular Shed Roof Styles and DesignsĪ common roof style with 2 sloped roof sections meeting at a peak centered above the end walls forming a symmetrical roof line. ![]() The more complex the design, the more expensive it usually is due to increase of materials and time to build it. The more angles to cut, the more time and usually more materials needed. The cost of the roof is based on a number of things. If the roofing material is going to match your house, then the roofing material will affect the design for the same reason. Some other roofing materials which are used for low slope, curved or butterfly roof styles are PVC, TPO, and rubber membrane. Shingles refer to asphalt, clay, slate, cedar, metal, tar and gravel, and roll roofing products. Ribbed sheet steel may work better on a shed or gable roof, while shingles may work better on a hip or octagonal roof style. The roof design influences the roofing material. The complexity of a shed roof framing can also showcase the builder’s skill and the owner’s ancestry and wealth. The more angles to measure and cut, the more math you have to do, the greater the chance for making a mistake at least for me. A higher slope usually provides extra storage space inside a shed too.Ī roof with one slope is usually less complex to build than a roof with multiple slopes. Ventilation, which affects the temperature inside the shed, is influenced by the slope. The direction of the slope also determines where the precipitation goes and how the wind hits your shed. The greater the slope the quicker snow, rain, and debris will slide off. Select a shed roof design that meets your climate needs. Some roof designs help shed snow and rain better, some take the winds better, and others help keep the inside cooler or warmer. Rain, snow and wind cause damage and heat and cold can make life miserable. Here are some things to consider when building a roof:ĭay to day weather is the greatest influence on roof design.
